"Under the procedural leadership of the prosecutors of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office, a resident of Kherson, an employee of the penitentiary service, was detained and received a suspicion of collaborative activity (part 7 of article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the message says.

According to the investigation, after the capture of the city, an employee of the Kherson correctional colony went over to the enemy's side. In particular, he voluntarily agreed to the invaders' offer to serve in the so-called "Northern Correctional Colony (No. 90)", which they had illegally created.

The traitor worked as a cynologist instructor with the assignment of the so-called "special rank of the ensign of the internal service." During his tenure, the man organized the work of the cynological unit and trained service dogs to protect this "institution".

“Later, frightened by the offensive of the Ukrainian defenders in the south of Ukraine, he left the place of service and fled to Odessa, where he was detained by officers of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region,” the prosecutor’s office said.

Now the suspect has been chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention without determining the amount of bail.

As reported by the SSU in the Odessa region, in a secure institution in which the defendant worked for the occupiers, repressed local residents were illegally imprisoned. Most of the victims were members of the resistance movement.

"In the torture chambers, the occupiers tortured Ukrainian citizens and tried to 'knock out' of their consent to cooperate with the enemy. It was established that the collaborator helped the aggressor guard the 'chambers' and the 'perimeter' of the Russian torture chamber," the department said.

During the liberation of Kherson, the attacker decided to escape to Odessa, where he tried to "lay low."
