In an effort to protect its military-industrial and fuel-energy sectors from Ukraine’s long-range strikes, the aggressor state Russia is trying to patch gaps in its air defense by combining outdated Soviet systems with equipment it presents as “modern.”

This was stated by Andriy Yusov, a representative of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, during the national telethon United News.

“This involves both Soviet and modern systems—the enemy is trying to integrate them into a single network. This includes the older S-300, the newer S-400, as well as the so-called advanced S-350 ‘Vityaz,’” explained Andriy Yusov.

According to him, air defense assets are deployed in all major cities of the aggressor state, as well as around strategically important facilities.

“All major cities of the Russian Federation have air defense systems, and, of course, significant industrial sites of value, military-industrial facilities, or politically important objects are specially protected,” added the Defense Intelligence representative.

Despite this, Ukraine continues to deliver almost daily destructive strikes on Russia’s strategically important military-industrial sites.

“The key indicator is how many Ukrainian drones reach their targets and inflict damage. According to various estimates, the reduction in petroleum product processing in Russia is between 18% and 20%—these are extremely significant figures,” noted Andriy Yusov.
