A meeting of the Steering Committee of the “Mykolaiv–Denmark” Partnership was held at the Office for Reconstruction and Development, attended by Vitaliy Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration; Anton Tabunshchik, Chair of the Regional Council; Oleksandr Senkevych, Mayor of Mykolaiv; Jakob Hansen, Head of the Royal Danish Office; and representatives from Ukraine and international partners.
During the meeting, priorities for cooperation for 2025–2028 were identified, and the first projects under Denmark’s new Transitional Programme for Ukraine (UTP 2025–2028) were presented.
The programme’s budget is 2.8 billion Danish kroner (€375 million), with up to 60% of funding (€225 million) allocated to Mykolaiv and the surrounding region. The remaining 40% will be distributed among other regions of Ukraine, including additional support for Mykolaiv.
Key areas of cooperation include:
- Restoration of water supply and energy systems;
- Reconstruction of schools and kindergartens with shelters;
- Development of healthcare and psychosocial support;
- Support for the agricultural sector, business, and civil society;
- Mine action and emergency response.
In 2025, with Danish support, several projects have already been implemented in Mykolaiv, including the opening of two modern administrative service centers (CNAPs) in the Korabelny and Zavodskyi districts, installation of shelters in educational institutions, renovation of hospital departments, and support for critical infrastructure and energy independence.
Importantly, funding does not go through government accounts. All projects are implemented directly by Danish partners, providing communities with immediate, tangible results.
