Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and the head of Denmark's defense ministry, Troels Lund Poulsen, discussed the further development of the 'Danish model' for direct funding of Ukraine's defense industry.
Denmark confirmed its intention to increase support for this initiative in 2025 and to attract new partners.
"This initiative, launched by Denmark, has already proven its effectiveness: in 2024, it provided the Ukrainian Armed Forces with arms worth 588 million euros. We aim for even more," emphasized Rustem Umerov.
Sweden, Norway, Iceland, and Canada have already joined the 'Danish model' for financing the Ukrainian defense industry. In addition, in 2024, the European Union decided to allocate a portion of the profits from frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine's defense industry under this mechanism.
One of the key areas of cooperation identified is the production of radars, drones, and electronic warfare systems. The parties also discussed the supply of spare parts for armored vehicles, which will significantly accelerate their repair and return to service.
