If the Russian Federation violates the truce in the Black Sea, Ukraine will respond.

This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, during a national telethon broadcast.

He specifically recalled the words of Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who said that Russia must not leave the eastern part of the Black Sea. Otherwise, Kyiv will consider it a violation of the truce.

"This has already been repeatedly discussed at the highest levels of the country’s leadership, and, of course, the response will be adequate. Defense Minister Rustem Umerov also reiterated that the Russians cannot leave the eastern part of the Black Sea, where they have a formal legal right to be—along the Russian coast—where they have in fact been stationed for a long time," he said.

Pletenchuk also emphasized that for Ukraine, a ceasefire in the Black Sea primarily means an end to attacks on port infrastructure. At the same time, the right to strike Russian military ships remains.

"Yes, this is about security. It concerns which targets cannot be attacked during the truce. This, of course, applies to the stable operation of our grain corridor and the ability to maintain export capabilities. As for military targets—as you know from statements made by representatives of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry—the ceasefire does not apply to military objects such as ships," the spokesperson added.
