The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will invest up to EUR 20 million to finance the operating expenses of the Ukrainian enterprise Vetropack Group (Switzerland) — PrJSC “Vetropack Gostomel Glass Factory” — in 2026–2027, according to the bank’s project documents.
The financing will involve the EBRD’s participation in a seven-year tranche of a loan that Vetro-Recycling AG is raising through the issuance of debt instruments. The project was approved on June 16.
According to the EBRD’s assessment, the project will help cover the Ukrainian company’s current liquidity gap and preserve its workforce. The bank’s participation is expected to offset the financing shortfall caused by unfavorable market conditions in Ukraine.
Vetro-Recycling AG is the financial vehicle of Vetropack Group and is wholly owned by Vetropack Holding AG. The group produces glass packaging at eight facilities in seven European countries.
PrJSC “Vetropack Gostomel Glass Factory” manufactures and sells glass containers in Ukraine. Vetropack Group acquired a controlling stake in the company in 2006.
According to Vetropack, the Ukrainian plant employs 329 people, operates two glass-melting furnaces and eight production lines, with a melting capacity of 600 tonnes per day.
In early June 2025, the company launched its second restored furnace, which had been severely damaged during the first weeks of the full-scale war. Its reconstruction took about two years.
According to Opendatabot data, in 2025 the assets of PrJSC “Vetropack Gostomel Glass Factory” increased by 22.0% to UAH 1.86 billion, while revenue grew by 36.2% to UAH 1.52 billion. The company’s net loss increased by 89.1% to UAH 412.21 million.
