"I have taken on this commitment: now our military is training Ukrainian soldiers with the equipment they will use during missions. The Anna Kyivska Brigade will be trained and equipped thanks to the solidarity of France," emphasized the President of the French Republic – Supreme Commander of the French Armed Forces Emmanuel Macron on October 9, 2024.
He made this statement during his visit and meeting with Ukrainian servicemen and servicewomen currently training at the French Army training ground under the guidance and mentorship of instructors from the French Ground Forces responsible for the training. President Emmanuel Macron's visit took place alongside the French Minister of Armed Forces and Veterans, Sébastien Lecornu, and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov.
President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic announced the responsibility for training and equipping the Ukrainian infantry brigade during the visit of the President of Ukraine on June 7, 2024, in Paris, to respond to the training challenge facing Ukraine.
Thus, France became the first country to train an entire brigade on its territory. In terms of the number of trained soldiers and the duration of training, these unprecedented exercises are built collaboratively with Ukrainians based on their frontline experience.
Training is conducted in parallel with the transfer of equipment to prepare soldiers as closely as possible to the realities on the front and on French equipment, technology, supplies, and logistics that they will use in operations.
During this trip, President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed France's determination to support Ukraine as intensively and for as long as necessary for victory in Russia's aggressive war.
In the language of French diplomacy, "the personal visit of the president" is the highest way to confirm support for Ukraine.
It should be noted that since 2022, nearly 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been trained under the leadership of the French Army as part of the European Union Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM UA). A new step in this mission is the formation of a brigade in France called "Anna Kyivska," as well as individual and collective, general and specialized training aimed at creating a decisive advantage on the battlefield.
