In the textbook, Hungarian schoolchildren are convinced that a civil war is going on in Ukraine, in which Russia is not involved.

In Hungary, a government center has developed an 8th grade geography textbook filled with anti-Ukrainian propaganda and distorted facts that can turn students into a hostile attitude toward Ukraine.

As the European Pravda article states, the official textbook developed by the state center OFI is a mandatory educational book for Hungarian schoolchildren.

It is noted that there is not a lot of geography in the book, and it was done with errors. For example, Hungarian authors seem to have deprived Ukraine of sovereignty over the Crimean mountains, telling children that the Carpathians are the only mountains in Ukraine, "at the foot of which are located the historical Hungarian cities: Ungvar (Uzhgorod), Munkach (Mukachevo), Khust".

In the textbook, Hungarian schoolchildren are convinced that a civil war is going on in Ukraine, in which Russia is most likely not involved.

"In multinational Ukraine, the distribution of nationalities across the territory is very uneven. Most are Ukrainians by nationality, but in the east of the country, there is a significant proportion of Russians, and on the Crimean peninsula, they make up the majority. The two East Slavic languages ​​(Russian, and Ukrainian) are very similar, and a fifth of the population speaks in a mixed Russian-Ukrainian language. Despite this, the two ethnic groups are often at enmity with each other. Their confrontation also provoked an armed conflict over the Crimean peninsula, see the figure," the Hungarian "geographers" say.

The message is accompanied by a picture in which Ukraine is being torn apart by a Russian bear and men in the United States and the European Union symbols. At the same time, schoolchildren are asked: "Which (of them) should Ukraine belong to?"

In addition, the textbook contains frankly false facts. For example, the fact that Ukraine receives Russian hydrocarbons at a better price than other countries.

The textbook also explains to Hungarian schoolchildren that Ukraine is a bad place to live. And the Hungarians who ended up in Ukraine suffer the most.

"The health of the population is bad, people can count on almost the lowest life expectancy on the continent. The general economic situation in Ukraine is not favorable for Hungarians, besides Transcarpathia is one of the most backward regions," the textbook explains.

Most Hungarians do not support EU sanctions against Russia, oppose the ban on issuing visas to Russians, and do not agree with the supply of weapons to Ukraine by EU member states.
