The Ministry of Justice and the State Archival Service of Ukraine have presented the pilot project "e-Archive." From now on, documents from the National Archival Fund and state electronic information resources will be stored in electronic archives. This will allow users to easily find all the necessary information with just a few clicks, eliminating the need to store piles of offline paper documents.

This information is reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

"We have created all the conditions for archival documents to accumulate, be accounted for, and preserved in electronic form. Moreover, this entire process will be automated. So now, with just a few clicks, you can find the necessary archival information without having to deal with piles of offline paper documents. Ukrainian archives are becoming even more accessible," stated Sergey Orlov, Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization, during the presentation of the pilot project.

Each year, the Ministry of Justice transfers approximately 1,200 cases of paper documents to the state archives. This amounts to 240,000 sheets of A4 paper. Additionally, for electronic documents that need to be stored for over 10 years, certified paper copies are also produced.

"The implementation of the pilot project 'e-Archive' will allow for the archiving of electronic documents in government agencies and will create proper conditions for the permanent storage and use of electronic documents from the National Archive Fund (so-called 'born digital documents') and state electronic information resources. After further scaling, true electronic archives will be operational in Ukraine. We are ushering in the era of electronic archiving in Ukraine together," noted Anatoliy Khromov, Head of the State Archival Service of Ukraine.

The project was tested in the "ASKOD" system. In the first stage, individual electronic documents from the Ministry of Justice were generated and transferred for storage to the Ministry of Justice archive and the Central State Audiovisual and Electronic Archive.

Subsequently, the project will be scaled to all government bodies and, eventually, to other organizations.

The pilot project was realized by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine in collaboration with the State Archival Service, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the EU Pravo-Justice project, and other partners.
