The Ministry of Defense of Lithuania plans to allocate 2 million euros (approximately 2.17 million dollars) for the purchase of around 3,000 FPV drones.
This information was reported by Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida ŠimonytÄ during a press conference with her Ukrainian counterpart, Denys Shmyhal.
According to ŠimonytÄ, Lithuania has allocated 35 million euros (approximately 37.93 million dollars) for the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine.
"We have also agreed that Lithuania will soon purchase around 3,000 Lithuanian FPV drones for approximately 2 million euros through the Ministry of Defense, which are expected to arrive at the front, hopefully, this year," she added.
At the beginning of 2024, Czech President Petr Pavlo announced the availability of 800,000 munitions in countries outside the European Union who agreed to sell them. This includes 500,000 rounds of 155mm caliber and 300,000 rounds of 122mm caliber. Later, the participating countries in the Czech initiative signed an agreement, under which the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive 1 million munitions.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal stated that Ukraine expects the first shipment of artillery munitions from the Czech initiative to arrive as early as April.
