On November 21, the key to the European Youth Capital 2025 was handed over to Lviv during a ceremony in the Belgian city of Ghent. This event symbolized the significant recognition of Ukrainian youth at the European level.
Andriy Chesnokov, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, emphasized the crucial role of Ukrainian youth in the fight for freedom and European values.
"Today, on the Day of Dignity and Freedom, Ukraine continues its heroic journey in defending democracy and freedom. Youth has always been the driving force behind change, and in this fight for the future, it demonstrates incredible strength and unity. We remember each and every person who gave their life for Ukraine. The Lviv Youth Capital team also paid a high price, losing Yarina Bazylevych, a program manager, who died as a result of a Russian missile strike. We are confident that her memory will inspire us to implement all the projects of the European Youth Capital 2025 with even greater energy," he said.
For the first time, a Ukrainian city has been awarded the title of European Youth Capital, which is not only a diplomatic victory but also an opportunity for Ukraine to further integrate into the European community. In 2025, Lviv will host hundreds of international events aimed at youth development, intercultural dialogue, and integration into the European space.
Despite the challenges of war, Ukrainian youth continue to demonstrate extraordinary unity, strength, and readiness to take responsibility for the country's future. The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, led by Minister Matviy Bidny, pays special attention to supporting international initiatives aimed at youth policy development. The Lviv Youth Capital program promises to become a model for other cities, contributing to the recovery and strengthening of Ukrainian society.
