Until the end of the year, the ban on the export of buckwheat will continue to apply in Ukraine. This was announced on the air of Suspilne by the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Taras Vysotsky.

"Until the end of the year, the ban on the export of buckwheat will be in effect, and whether it will be extended from January 2023, we will understand at the end of November since its collection is still ongoing. When we see that the production, which was forecast at the level of 140 thousand tons, will already be in our warehouse, we will be able to talk about something. But there definitely cannot be free exports," said the deputy minister.

At the same time, Taras Vysotsky noted that Ukrainians need 110,000 tons of buckwheat for domestic consumption. He also explained why the decline in the price of buckwheat is more gradual than predicted.

"In September, there was an abnormal amount of precipitation, and in fact, for 2-3 weeks, the collection of all crops stopped, including buckwheat. In the summer, there was an expectation that farmers would harvest the crop in September, and in October, it would already be on the market. Therefore, the final effect of the price will be achieved for the consumer in November," Taras Vysotsky emphasized.

As for other cereals, there will be no shortage either, the First Deputy Minister assured. 99% of their production is domestic so that Ukrainians will have more than enough grown grains for domestic consumption.
