According to the average forecast, in 2022 there will be a decline in production for almost all types of agricultural products. This is due to the lack of fuel and lubricants, PPE, fertilizers, and sometimes seeds, mining, and occupation of territories.

This was stated in a comment to SuperAgronom.com by Deputy Director of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine Mykola Pugachev.

According to the expert, in the regions where hostilities are taking place, the largest decrease in production is projected compared to last year's result.

"In the Mykolaiv area, production of grain and leguminous crops in 2022 will make, accordingly, 41% from last year's level, wheat - 40%, sunflower - 34%. In the Kherson region this year, the production of cereals and legumes is expected at 49% compared to 2021, wheat - 47%, sunflower - 46%, "- said Mykola Pugachev.

Conditions in the central and western regions of Ukraine are much better. However, even there, it won't be easy to ensure high yields.

According to scientists from the Institute of Agrarian Economics, in these regions, the decline in production compared to 2021 will be for cereals and legumes - 18-25%, sunflower - 15-22%, meat - 8-18%, and milk - 6- 18%.

The spring sowing campaign continues. Currently, less than 20% of the planned areas have been sown, and it isn't easy to talk about the actual structure of crops.

It is projected that agricultural producers will prefer simpler technologies for growing and cultivating crops - barley, oats, peas, millet, sorghum, legumes and other niches.
