This year, Norway will provide 4 billion Norwegian kroner (over 378 million US dollars) for the Czech initiative to supply artillery ammunition to Ukraine, and will also allocate 1 billion kroner (over 94.5 million US dollars) to the European Peace Facility (EPF).

This was stated in a press release on the Norwegian government’s website.

"Ukraine needs a steady supply of artillery shells to continue its fight for freedom against the Russian invading forces. It is important for Norway to contribute to the effort to replenish Ukraine’s ammunition stocks," said Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

According to the statement, the 4 billion kroner will go toward the Czech-led initiative to deliver large-caliber ammunition. Norway had already contributed to this initiative in 2024.

An additional 1 billion kroner will be sent to the European Peace Facility, through which the EU provides military support to Ukraine. Norway’s contribution will also be directed toward artillery shells.

"We are now strengthening our cooperation with the EU to provide Ukraine with, among other things, more artillery ammunition. Europe must take greater responsibility for supporting Ukraine in its fight for freedom," the Prime Minister added.

This new funding is part of a recently announced increase in Norway’s support for Ukraine by 50 billion kroner in 2025.
