After the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin, Russia opened a criminal case against ICC prosecutor Karim Ahmad Khan and three judges. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation published the corresponding statement.
It is noted that the prosecutor Karim A.A. Khan sent a petition to one of the court chambers of the ICC to obtain a warrant for the arrest of "citizens of the Russian Federation." Based on this petition, three judges issued "illegal decisions" to arrest the Russian president and Russia's children's ombudsman.
"Criminal prosecution is obviously illegal, since there are no grounds for a criminal prosecution," the Investigative Committee said.
Russian "law enforcers" claim that the ICC prosecutor violated the articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on bringing a person known to be innocent to criminal responsibility and on "preparations to attack a representative of a foreign state enjoying international protection to complicate international relations."
The Russian Investigative Committee charges the judges of the ICC with deliberately illegal detention and all the same "preparation for an attack on a representative of a foreign state."
