American neobank Mercury is ceasing support for accounts of companies whose founders hold passports from certain countries, including Ukraine.
This was reported by Petcube and TheFourthLaw.ai founder Yaroslav Azhniuk on Facebook.
Due to recent changes, Mercury will end support for accounts of companies with founders from Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, Venezuela, and Ukraine. The final closure of these accounts is scheduled for August 13, 2024.
Currently, Ukrainian account holders will have full access to their accounts until August 6. After that date, access will be restricted, except for completing transactions until the final account closure on August 13.
According to Azhniuk, this is not the first instance of such action by the American financial system. Earlier this year, a Ukrainian entrepreneur was unable to transfer funds to Ukraine from their Chase bank account.
Additionally, in January 2021, the American financial service Robinhood stopped being accessible from Ukrainian IP addresses, Azhniuk added.
