The Defense Forces are taking effective measures to stop the advance of Russian troops on the Dobropillia and Pokrovsk directions, where the Russian forces has concentrated over 110,000 personnel.
This was reported by the spokesperson of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalov.
“Our units are engaged in heavy defensive battles against the enemy’s superior forces. For example, on the Pokrovsk direction alone, the occupiers have concentrated a formation numbering over 110,000 personnel,” Kovalov said.
According to him, to penetrate deep into Ukrainian defenses, the Russian forces act brazenly. Despite losses, they try to infiltrate with sabotage and small infantry groups through Ukrainian defensive lines, the spokesperson noted.
"In particular, several small Russian groups bypassed Ukrainian defensive positions and attempted to advance toward the settlement of Zolotyi Kolodiaz. Additionally, taking advantage of local terrain features, saboteurs covertly infiltrated settlements such as Vesele, Vilne, Rubizhne, and Kucheriv Yar. Some of these groups have already been destroyed, while the rest are in the process of being eliminated," emphasized the General Staff spokesperson.
Kovalov noted that the situation is complicated and dynamic, but the Defense Forces are taking all necessary measures to detect and destroy Russian groups. In particular, by order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, additional forces and means have been allocated to strengthen defense resilience. Measures have been planned to block Russiand groups in a designated area.
“Reserve units have already detected the enemy and have had initial successes: occupiers are being destroyed and captured,” the spokesperson emphasized, adding that Ukraine’s defenders remain focused on their tasks, hold the lines, and require the support of the entire society to repel new enemy offensive attempts.
