At IDEF 2025 in Istanbul, Ukraine’s SpetsTechnoExport introduced the Chaklun-B 2.0, a new UAV designed for extended endurance and operational flexibility on today’s battlefields. This fixed-wing drone, with a 3.5-meter wingspan and 3.9-meter fuselage, is tailored for reconnaissance, transport, and ISR missions in remote or contested areas. Powered by an internal combustion engine, it carries payloads between 20 and 35 kg and can stay airborne for up to 8 hours, covering a range of at least 500 kilometers. Its catapult launch and direct line landing systems enable operations without traditional runways.
Developed amid Ukraine’s ongoing war, the Chaklun-B 2.0 responds to battlefield logistics challenges and the growing need for autonomous systems. Unlike earlier improvised drones, it is a purpose-built platform reflecting lessons from frontline experience. It fills a niche between small tactical drones and larger UAVs by combining long range, payload capacity, and low infrastructure demands.
Comparable to systems like the U.S. RQ-20 Puma or Israeli Skylark III, the Chaklun-B 2.0 stands out with its hybrid reconnaissance and transport role. It supports decentralized military strategies, border security, special operations, and civil defense efforts. Its debut at IDEF 2025 also marks Ukraine’s intent to deepen defense ties with Turkiye and NATO partners.
This UAV highlights Ukraine’s drive to innovate under pressure, offering a versatile, scalable tool that meets both military and humanitarian needs while boosting the country’s presence in the global drone market.
