Famous violinist Rainer Honek will perform in Odessa as part of the Seventh International Black Sea Music Festival on October 8.
Rainer Honeck was born 1961 in Nenzing, Vorarlberg (Austria) and started learning violin at the age of seven; he studied at the High School of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Prof. Bertschinger and later, with Prof. Alfred Staar. He was awarded First Prize from âJeunesse Musicaleâ in Vienna in 1977 and a study grant from the Dr. Karl Böhm Foundation (administered by the Vienna Philharmonic) in 1978.
Rainer Honeck joined the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 1981, advancing to the position of concert master in the Opera in 1984 and to that of concert master of the Vienna Philharmonic as well in 1992. He is a founding member and leader of the Wiener Virtuosen and the Vienna String Soloists.
Having made a successful career as an orchestral musician, soloist and ensemble player, Honeck also began to appear as a conductor and has already led the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice (France) and the Mariinsky Orchestra. Rainer Honeck plays the Stradivarius ex-Hämmerle violin (1709), on generous loan from the Ãsterreichische Nationalbank.
On October 8, at 19:00, as part of the Black Sea Music Festival, there will be a Brahms Violin Concerto in D major Op.77 performed by Rainer Honek, âRepresentation of Chaosâ from the oratorio "The Creation" by Joseph Haydn and Symphony No.3, Op.90 by Johannes Brahms.
