Over the past three years, Chernihiv region has restored 95% of its pre-war gross agricultural production levels.

Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, reported on Telegram that last year the region achieved a record grain harvest of 5 million tons, 26% higher than in 2022.

Agriculture accounts for over 80% of the region’s total exports, mostly plant-based products, generating more than $800 million in 2024. Tax payments by agricultural enterprises increased by 54% compared to 2022, with local budget contributions rising by over 25%, funding communities, infrastructure, and defense.

Chaus noted that about 60,000 hectares of farmland remain potentially contaminated with mines and shells following the Russian invasion, with over 17,000 hectares still inaccessible due to proximity to the front line. Humanitarian demining began in 2023: over 1,700 hectares have been cleared in two years, with 415 hectares surveyed and more than 150 hectares demined this year.

State support for farmers reached a record 355 million UAH in 2024, including grants for processing, orchards, and greenhouses, subsidies for domestic equipment purchases, loans, compensations, and microgrants for business development.
