The European Investment Bank (EIB) is transferring more than €74 million to Ukraine to support critical services, improve transport connectivity, and enhance energy efficiency. The funds will be directed to projects in the Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

“The new EIB tranche is an investment in the resilience of our communities. We are acting comprehensively: providing hospitals and schools with autonomous energy sources, modernizing public transport in cities, and expanding railway capacity at the border. These are precisely the practical steps that bring us closer to European standards of living and strengthen the economic and energy resilience of regions already now. To make the transfer of funds possible, teams on the ground and at the Ministry completed all administrative procedures, prepared and conducted tender processes, ensured communication with financial institutions, and maintained transparency at every stage,” said Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba.

The financing package includes EIB loans backed by EU guarantees under the Ukraine Investment Framework (UIF), as well as grants from the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P Fund) and the International Climate Initiative (IKI), financed by the German government.

One of the key components of the assistance is support for the “Renewable Energy Solutions” (RES) program, which is moving into the practical implementation phase. The first tranche amounts to more than €1.1 million.

These funds will make it possible to install solar power plants with energy storage systems in six hospitals and schools in the Poltava, Vinnytsia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. This will ensure a stable power supply during outages and allow institutions to save budget funds.
