The second phase of training for the divers-sappers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine under the project “Enhancing Ukraine’s Capacity in Mine Action” has been successfully completed. Another 24 rescuers from various regions of Ukraine received invaluable knowledge and high-quality technological equipment for underwater demining.

As part of the course, with expert support from French instructors, the divers-sappers trained in operating, maintaining, and analyzing data from a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). These robotic systems are equipped with all the necessary tools for detecting and identifying objects, including hydroacoustics, sonars, and magnetometers, ensuring maximum safety for sappers during operations.

The training aimed to provide new knowledge, enhance existing skills, and foster bilateral experience exchange in underwater demining—and the participants successfully achieved these goals. Today, they received their certificates. Vitalii Mironiuk, First Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, together with Gaël Veyssière, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Ukraine, summarized the results of the training in Cherkasy and discussed further cooperation. Vitalii Mironiuk expressed gratitude to the French side for their significant support in ensuring Ukraine’s safety.

For their substantial contribution to humanitarian demining, the international partners were awarded departmental honors from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and letters of appreciation.
