Germany is providing Ukraine with surface unmanned vehicles Sonobot 5.

This information was reported by the German project deaidua.org, which tracks assistance to Ukraine from Germany.

According to deaidua.org, Ukraine has already received 15 such drones, with Germany set to provide an additional 55 drones later.

In May 2023, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine released videos and photos demonstrating the use of these drones for surveying water bodies to detect unexploded ordnance or their remnants.

The Sonobot 5, developed by the German company EvoLogics GmbH, is capable of surveying rivers, beaches, port areas, or inspecting objects in and around the water. This surface drone is equipped with sonar, a hydrolocator, and a camera.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine noted that Sonobot 5 is a versatile platform that can be adapted to the needs of hydrographic surveys in inland waters.
