Germany will allocate 10 million euros for the reconstruction of the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, which suffered significant damage during the recent Russian attack.
This was announced by the Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, Svenja Schulze, in an interview with Rheinische Post.
The funds allocated by Germany will be used to quickly restore the hospital to working condition and prepare the building for operation during the winter.
"The destruction of the children's hospital shows how ruthlessly and inhumanely Russia is conducting this aggressive war. Children suffer the most from this war. We should not and will not accept that this place of healing for children with cancer in Ukraine no longer exists," Schulze stated.
It is noted that the German Ministry of Development has a close partnership with Okhmatdyt as part of German-Ukrainian cooperation in healthcare.
"We have offered the Ukrainian government assistance in rebuilding the hospital so that children can quickly receive the urgent treatment they need," the minister continued.
This includes repairs and technical maintenance of the hospital's facades, procedural rooms, as well as electrical and heating systems.
