In October, Ukrainian exports in monetary terms reached a record high for the entire year of 2024. Ukraine exported goods worth over $3.8 billion in the month—18.7% more than in September of this year. This was reported by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yuliia Svyrydenko. Since the beginning of the year, preliminary data indicates that total exports have approached nearly $34.6 billion.
“The significant increase in exports in October was made possible by the rise in agricultural product shipments. Specifically, the export of agricultural products in October increased by 32.3% in value and by 33.8% in weight. This allowed us to boost physical export volumes to 10.9 million tons, which is 26.2% more than in September of this year. We owe this achievement to our defenders, who ensure the operation of the maritime corridor despite threats from the enemy. In October, maritime exports increased by 28.2% in monetary terms and by 37.1% in weight,” noted Yuliia Svyrydenko.
According to the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, total exports have approached nearly $34.6 billion since the beginning of the year, based on preliminary data.
“Given the current dynamics of export goods, we can cautiously predict that this year’s exports in monetary terms will exceed last year’s figures. Let me remind you that it was at the level of $36.2 billion in 2023. Regarding physical volumes, in the first ten months of 2024, we have already exported more than in the entire previous year. This is a preliminary 110 million tons in total for the first ten months of this year compared to 100 million tons in 2023,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
As Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine and Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka explained, the largest exports in October by value were:
- Sunflower oil, safflower oil, or cotton oil ($447.2 million or 481,300 tons);
- Corn ($363.6 million or 1.9 million tons);
- Wheat ($318.2 million or 1.6 million tons);
- Soybeans ($260 million or 675,000 tons);
- Rapeseed ($239.2 million or 476,300 tons);
- Iron ore and concentrates ($166.8 million or 2.5 million tons).
Ukrainian producers exported the most goods to Poland, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Turkey.
Overall, in October, Ukraine exported goods worth $2.38 billion to EU countries (15.8% more than in September).
“The European Union is a key trading partner for Ukraine. Therefore, we are making every effort to ensure the most favorable access conditions to European markets for our exporters and to integrate Ukrainian producers into European value-added chains,” noted Taras Kachka.
