In August, Russian aviation dropped 4,390 guided aerial bombs (GABs) on the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces and frontline settlements, the Ministry of Defense reported.

"Throughout August, the intensity of fighting along the entire frontline remained high. The enemy continues its attempts to pursue its aggressive plans, carrying out active combat operations and trying to break through our defensive lines," the statement said.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there were 5,027 recorded combat engagements during the month. On August 28 alone, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions more than 190 times.

"Russia continues to ignore the international community’s efforts to end its war against Ukraine. Instead, Russian aviation is ramping up its air terror. In August, the enemy increasingly used aerial bombs equipped with universal planning and correction modules (guided aerial bombs)," the Ministry of Defense noted.

Over the 31 days of the last summer month, Russian forces dropped 4,390 GABs on defense positions and frontline settlements — more than in the previous month, when 3,786 were used. However, the highest number of GABs deployed in 2025 so far remains April, with over 5,000 bombs dropped.
