In the Russian city of Engels, located in the Saratov region, an oil depot at the airbase caught fire on the morning of January 8 following a drone attack.
According to geolocation data, the fire in Engels, Saratov region, broke out at the oil depot of the "Kristall" plant, part of Rosrezerv. This federal state institution is responsible for storing fuel for the "Engels-2" airbase.
Astra verified the location by comparing video footage with images from Google panoramic maps. Photographs later published by Roman Busargin, the governor of the Saratov region, confirm this information. The governor added that "an operational headquarters has been set up at the facility where the fire occurred due to the UAV attack. The situation and the firefighting plan were discussed with specialists on-site. There are sufficient resources and personnel to contain the fire."
