In Zaporizhzhia’s Komyshenskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, anti-drone nets are being installed at the terminal stops of public transport.

In addition, the city plans to install 200 concrete shelters. This was reported on television by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.

He said that due to the growing number of drone attacks, the authorities together with relevant services are strengthening anti-drone protection on major roads and in urban areas.

“Anti-drone nets will be deployed at terminal stops in the Komyshenskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts to protect public transport. Anti-drone nets will also be installed along key transport routes. Of course, this is difficult to implement in urban development, because there will still be enough gaps for drones to enter if the enemy carries out targeted attacks,” he said.

However, analysis of FPV drone strikes suggests they often hit randomly, so according to Fedorov, anti-drone nets may still provide additional protection.

The second line of defense involves installing concrete shelters near public transport hubs and places with high concentrations of people. The region currently needs about 200 such structures.

“We have held talks with international partners regarding the first 50 shelters, which will be delivered in the coming months,” he added.

Fedorov also noted that among local roads, those requiring enhanced anti-drone protection have already been identified.
