The city of Dortmund once again organized a charity transport for the Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv. Machinery and materials for road construction, warm clothes, as well as eleven vans and two buses, are now heading for the Romanian-Ukrainian border.
The aid convoy is on its way. On Tuesday, November 15, the convoy set off on a 2,200-kilometer journey to the Romanian-Ukrainian border.
âI am impressed by the willingness of Dortmund to help,â sums up organizer Martin van der Pütten.
The sponsors of the second aid column include BVB, Dortmund Clinic, DEW21/DoNetz, DSW, Emschergenossenschaft, Atlas, Heldt, Viega and Dortmund University of Applied Sciences.
Martin van der Putten is happy with every donation. The Department of International Relations contacted the Ukrainian city in advance to find out exactly what was needed. Based on this list, the City of Dortmund specifically approached possible sponsors.
For example, the Heldt and Viega companies are bringing pipe-connecting technology and nearly two kilometers of pipelines for reconstruction in Mykolaiv. The workwear company Atlas donated winter shoes, warm winter socks and winter gloves. Warm clothing is also supplied from Borussia Dortmund, as well as black and yellow jerseys and shirts. The BVB also takes care of the kids regarding donations: there are also some soccer balls in the van.
DEW21/DoNetz provided technical equipment such as chainsaws, jackhammers and bolt cutters. In the pharmacy of the Dortmund Clinic, several boxes of important medicines are packed. The Fachhochschule Dortmund collected and donated computers and monitors. A foreign company also donated cleaning equipment and various small tools.
Of course, the city administration itself also donates. As is the case with ambulance transport, vehicles from the city's old park are sent to Ukraine, including an agricultural tractor, several vans, and dump trucks, flatbed cars. Two more vehicles, a Sprinter and a van, were donated by the Emschergenossenschaft. In addition, two decommissioned buses goes from DSW21 to Mykolaiv.
On Tuesday, November 15, donations were loaded onto wagons in Wambel. From Dortmund, the path now goes to Tulcea.
In the city bordering Ukraine, there is an international distribution center, the so-called logistics hub. Here representatives of Mykolaiv will receive donations at the end of the week. In addition to donations from Germany, humanitarian aid from other European countries is also temporarily stored at the distribution center and available for onward transportation to the war zone.
