A parliamentary delegation of the French Republic visiting Odessa, led by the President of the French National Assembly, Yael Braun-Pivet, met with Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov, as reported by Ukrinform. The parties discussed the issue of guaranteeing the city's vital activities and measures to improve safety. The French lawmakers were accompanied by the Consul Honorary of France in Odessa, Eduard Gorodetsky.
As Braun-Pivet noted, today Odessa is among the Ukrainian cities most affected by enemy attacks. But at the same time Odessa has become one of the symbols of Ukrainian resistance. Furthermore, he underlined that the delegation's visit is also an opportunity to welcome the efforts and resilience demonstrated by the inhabitants of Odessa.
During the visit, the French politician also asked about the functioning of the humanitarian grain corridor.
The mayor of Odessa thanked the French people for their humanitarian aid and global support and stressed the need for modern air defense systems for the city and other security measures.
“We are fighting an unequal war and we are winning thanks to the patriotism of our people. Our resistance will be even more effective if our desire to win is supported by a sufficient number of modern weapons. Furthermore, continuous air threats are exhausting civilians Odessa both morally and physically. We also need modern air defense equipment," Trukhanov said.
