On the night of December 4, a Ukrainian drone struck Grozny. According to media reports and Telegram channels, the target of the attack was the facility of the special police regiment named after Akhmat Kadyrov. Baza reports that the "Carpet" plan was implemented at the local airport during the night.

In the morning of December 4, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 35 drones had been shot down over the country. Twelve were shot down over Rostov region, six over Bryansk, five over Krasnodar region, four over Belgorod and Ryazan regions, two over Kursk, and one over Astrakhan and Kaluga. No mention was made of Chechnya in the report.

However, several Telegram channels reported that around 4:50 AM, Grozny was attacked, specifically the area of the special police regiment named after Akhmat Kadyrov. "Almost first," the channel clarifies, referring to the barracks. No casualties were reported.

Telegram channel Baza writes that the "Carpet" plan, which is used during drone attacks, was implemented at Grozny airport. As a result, one flight to Moscow was delayed.

The Akhmat Kadyrov regiment has been fighting in Ukraine since 2022.

The regiment was formed in 2004. In March 2021, Novaya Gazeta published an article by former regiment soldier Suleiman Gezmakhmaev about extrajudicial executions in Chechnya. Following this, the relatives of the regiment’s fighters accused the author, Elena Milashina, of provocation. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov claimed that Gezmakhmaev fabricated the story to seek political asylum in Europe. Chechen authorities held protests demanding the closure of Novaya Gazeta and accountability for its journalists.

Since 2022, the regiment has been participating in Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Drones first attacked Chechnya at the end of October. The target was the Vladimir Putin Special Forces University in Gudermes, one of the main recruitment centers for soldiers for the war. The attack caused a fire and damaged the roof of the building. Initially, no casualties were reported, but later, Kadyrov stated that Ukrainian prisoners had died in the attack.

"As I said before, there are no casualties on our side. However, there are among the Ukrainian prisoners. At every strategic facility in the republic, there are up to 10 Ukrainian prisoners, including on the territory of the RUS. Kyiv, in trying to harm us, today killed its own soldiers," Kadyrov wrote.
