During the night of June 5 (starting at 6:00 p.m. on June 4), Russian forces attacked Ukraine with two Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles fired from the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region, as well as 216 aerial attack weapons, including Shahed drones (some jet-powered), Gerbera and Italmas UAVs, Banderol loitering munitions, and Parodiya decoy drones. The drones were launched from the directions of Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and Chauda in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The air assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare forces, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 7:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defense had shot down or suppressed 198 aerial targets, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of drones across northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.
A total of 16 strike drones hit targets at 13 locations, while debris from intercepted drones fell at 12 separate sites. The guided air-launched missiles failed to reach their intended targets.
