Albania is committed to providing assistance to Ukraine under the PURL program in 2026.
This was stated by Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, during a joint briefing in Kyiv with her Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha.
“Albania has been involved in humanitarian, military, and other forms of support for Ukraine. We will continue this process. Our prime minister and our government are committed to working within the PURL program. We are a NATO member, and we view our responsibility within NATO as burden-sharing. Clearly, in 2026 we want to engage not only in PURL but also in other programs, including bilateral ones with Ukraine,” she said.

The minister noted that Albania is also ready to cooperate with Ukraine within the framework of the security agreement signed by the leaders of the two countries.
Albania fully supports the restoration of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and holding Russia accountable, Albania’s foreign minister Elisa Spiropali said.
“Ukraine is writing one of the greatest stories of our time — a story of resistance, dignity, and refusal to surrender to tyranny. Albania is proud to be part of this story as a friend that chose to stand by Ukraine when it mattered most,” Spiropali said.

She stressed that there are no justifications for Russia’s brutal aggression. Albania fully supports international efforts to hold the Russian Federation accountable and to restore Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Albania will also support Ukraine on its path toward membership in the European Union.
The head of Albania’s Foreign Ministry noted that she discussed with her Ukrainian counterpart the development of bilateral relations, cooperation in energy, tourism, investment, trade, and strengthening the role of the Albanian diaspora, particularly in the Odessa region.
The sides also discussed Albania’s readiness to contribute to Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction projects.
