In December, Belarus redeployed military units to the Ukrainian border that had previously been withdrawn. Approximately 1,500 soldiers are now stationed there.
According to the monitoring group Belarusian Hajun, the redeployment involved units that had been removed from the border in September-October. These units were relocated to the Stolin, Lelchitsy, Mozyr, and Gomel districts of Belarus, including:
- 11th Mechanized Brigade (OMBR) - to Stolin and Lelchitsy districts;
- 120th Mechanized Brigade (OMBR) - to the outskirts of the "Zyabrovka" and "Bokiv" airfields;
- 147th Anti-Aircraft Rocket Regiment (ZRPA) - location unknown for the Osa-AKM air defense system.
The exact timing of the redeployment is unknown, but it is estimated that the number of Belarusian soldiers at the border with Ukraine could be around 1,500.
Meanwhile, Vadym Mysnyk, spokesperson for the Eastern Defense Group Siversk, stated in a TV marathon that Ukrainian forces are monitoring the operational situation along the border with neighboring states.
"We have built a unified defense system along both the Belarusian and Russian borders, and we do not see any significant changes from Belarus," Mysnyk noted.
He also emphasized that such drills had taken place in Belarus last year, including multiple combat readiness checks and exercises involving tens of thousands of Belarusian reservists.
"We also take this factor into account and prepare for any developments, meaning we cannot ignore this," he added.
Mysnyk did not specify the exact number of Belarusian troops currently undergoing training in Belarus, noting that the enemy is also closely monitoring all open sources of information. Therefore, the awareness of Ukrainian forces is also critical for them.
He also added that the exercises are not limited to the Gomel district but are taking place in other areas as well.
