American corporation Boeing and Ukrainian state enterprise "Antonov" have signed a preliminary agreement to promote cooperation in the maintenance of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
This was reported by Breaking Defense.
The memorandum could pave the way for joint work between the two companies on unmanned systems to support Ukraine's defense industry.
Specifically, the cooperation opens the opportunity for Antonov to receive engineering support from Boeing.
Additionally, the agreement includes training, logistical support, and technical maintenance of American UAVs, such as the ScanEagle.
"We’re pleased to continue working with the Antonov Company to support Ukraine development and economic growth. This agreement demonstrates our ongoing efforts to find more opportunities to work with Ukrainian industry, which was underscored by our signing of the Ukrainian Defense Industry Compact earlier this year," said Ted Colbert, CEO of Boeing's defense division.
Meanwhile, the General Director of Antonov, Yevhen Havrylov, said the agreement could foster further development of Ukraine's defense industry, adding that the company is very satisfied with the cooperation with Boeing.
"This agreement brings a whole new level of opportunity to implement the latest and most effective solutions — in addition to the possibility of future projects with Boeing in the aerospace and defense industry," he said.
