Russian military forces are attempting to attack gas drilling rigs near Snake (Zmiinyi) Island, but Ukrainian Defense Forces are managing to maintain control over the rigs and the island. This was reported by the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, as conveyed by ArmyInform.
“It should be understood that the Ukrainian Defense Forces, primarily the special operations units of the Main Intelligence Directorate and the State Border Guard Service, are constantly carrying out missions in the Black Sea to control this territory and prevent the enemy,” Demchenko said.
He noted the importance of maintaining control over maritime routes used by ships and over the gas drilling rigs, which the enemy previously used as platforms to position their strike and surveillance assets.
Demchenko emphasized that the groups that liberated the gas drilling rigs near Snake (Zmiinyi) Island did everything necessary to ensure that the enemy could not control this area.
“The enemy's strike assets have also been destroyed. Our guys, our defenders, are managing to hold their positions while avoiding enemy strikes. Instead, we are delivering blows to the enemy that prevent them from controlling this territory,” he assured.
