This year, Germany will allocate €9 billion in military aid to Ukraine, part of which will go toward the purchase of long-range weapons.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced this during a briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Germany will take part in financing long-range weapons. They must be produced and should be available in the near future. We must provide funding so that the Ukrainian Armed Forces can procure the necessary materials,” Pistorius said.

He noted that Germany and Ukraine had signed agreements guaranteeing this support.

“Germany initially planned €4 billion in aid to Ukraine for this year. In recent months, we raised that amount to €7 billion. Now we want to add another €1.9 billion — this has not yet been finalized. However, part of that will be allocated to finance the long-range weapons project. In total, we will provide €9 billion in support to Ukraine,” the minister stated.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Germany has been providing Ukraine with significant military, financial, and humanitarian assistance. Berlin has supplied advanced weaponry, including IRIS-T air defense systems, Patriot surface-to-air missile systems, Leopard 2 tanks, armored vehicles, ammunition, and other military equipment.
