The SA-15 Tor short-range surface-to-air missile system (SAM) plays a significant role for occupying forces in Ukraine, primarily designed to defend aggressors on the front lines.

The UK Ministry of Defense reports this on Twitter.

British intelligence considers the destruction of ground-based air defense systems as one of the most crucial confrontations in the war, affecting both Ukraine and Russia. For the Russians, the "Tor" missile system remains one of the primary systems. It differs from the "Pantsir" system, which primarily protects command posts, with "Tor" covering shorter ranges and the military airbases of the Russian Federation.

Occupiers use "Tor" to counter Ukrainian drones, and intelligence emphasizes that this missile system effectively serves as the forefront of the occupant's air defense network.

However, the "Tor" missile system has several drawbacks, with one of the key issues being the endurance of the crew. With an established allocation of only three personnel to each system, maintaining a high state of alert for extended periods is highly likely proving an extreme test of endurance, as stated in the summary.
