A series of workshops and discussions on centralizing the functions of the state property owner are underway at the Ministry of Economy, conducted by French consultants. The goal is to prepare a plan to improve and modernize the management of state assets.
The first seminar, where the French model of centralized corporate governance was presented, took place on January 12. Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Oleksiy Sobolev, participated, along with representatives of the Ministry of Economy and the State Property Fund of Ukraine.
"Management of state-owned companies in Ukraine is very diversified. This does not allow increasing its efficiency. A mechanism of centralization is needed. At the same time, it is necessary to understand how to build it correctly. We are very grateful to France for expert support. We are actively moving towards the EU, so the experience of France in working with the model of centralized management of state-owned companies in European conditions is especially valuable to us," emphasized Oleksiy Sobolev.
France has already established a system of managing state property through the activities of the state holding agency (APE). It is responsible for managing state shareholdings in companies of strategic importance.
The speaker at the seminar was Juliette d'Aboville, former director of ethics and legal affairs, a board member of strategic state enterprises, and a member of the executive committee of the French state holding agency. Juliette d'Aboville participated in the modernization of the French legislative framework on corporate governance and privatization of state enterprises and advised the government on strategic projects, such as the restructuring of the nuclear industry.
The events are organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the State Property Fund of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of France, with the support of Expertise France, the mAIDAN program, and the EU project "Law-Justice."
