Chornomorsky Salt Plant (Odessa region) reached full production capacity in May 2026.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing information from the CEO of Chornomorsky Salt Plant, Vitalii Rudenko.

The company’s production capacity is 15,000 tons of salt per month, which covers half of the Ukrainian population’s demand.

“Since mid-May, we have started producing products on the main line: edible salt of different fractions, as well as in various packaging — 25 kg bags, big bags, and bulk shipments. We can say that all production capacities of the enterprise are already operational. Production is entering a steady operating cycle,” said Vitalii Rudenko.

According to Rudenko, the chief engineer of the captured Artemsol is working at the plant, assisting in technology development, design, and finding companies capable of providing technological solutions.

In the future, the company plans to extract salt from the Kuyalnyk Estuary in the Odessa region. According to management estimates, this could allow production of 200,000 tons of salt per year and fully cover the country’s demand for edible salt.

Construction of the Chornomorsky Salt Plant began in 2024. The launch was originally planned for January 2026. However, according to Vitalii Rudenko, the launch had to be postponed due to abnormal frosts, power supply disruptions, and the workload of Turkish contractors.

Another challenge was a shortage of personnel. As Rudenko notes, since the enterprise is the only one in Ukraine that evaporates sea salt, there is a lack of sufficient specialists in this field.
