The operation in Russia's Kursk region is significantly altering the operational situation along the front line, according to Vadym Mysnyk, spokesperson for the Siversk Operational and Tactical Group, speaking during a televised broadcast.

"The Kursk operation is fundamentally changing the overall operational environment. The enemy is forced to concentrate its forces there, and it is where the most active shelling occurs," Mysnyk stated.

He noted that Russian shelling activity along the border fluctuates in waves, intensifying two- to threefold over several days or decreasing significantly.

"After the New Year, we observed an increase in border shelling. The enemy employed guided bombs, helicopter-launched missiles, numerous drone strikes, and barrel artillery. Some border settlements were heavily targeted by these terrorist attacks. Over the past day, three civilians were wounded in Chernihiv region, and today we have reports of two civilians injured in Sumy region," Mysnyk said.

He also reported continued Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group (SRG) activity near the border. Ukrainian forces have technical means and anti-sabotage reserves to detect these groups promptly.

"Winter conditions are very challenging for combat operations, but our units are prepared. We prevent infiltrations into Ukraine and aim to destroy enemy equipment even as it approaches the border. If infantry groups are involved, each individual is identified, and we inflict maximum losses on enemy forces within the border area," Mysnyk assured.
