Russian special services are preparing a large-scale media special operation to discredit the work of the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI). SBI press service reports it..
"The suspects in state treason, members of a criminal organization, are preparing a massive media special operation against the State Bureau of Investigations to discredit it. At the behest of Russian special services, they plan to spread fakes about the course of the pre-trial investigation against them, alleging political persecution, and more," the statement said.
It is noted that through dubious sources in the media, the dissemination of untrue and "distorted" information is planned to neutralize proven investigative facts and obtained evidence.
The State Bureau of Investigations, in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine, exposed this criminal organization in November of the current year. It included current and former members of parliament, an assistant to one of them, and a former prosecutor.
It was established that, at the direction of Russian special services, they organized events to discredit Ukraine's image on the international stage to worsen diplomatic relations with the United States and complicate Ukraine's entry into the European Union and NATO.
A current member of parliament, who engaged in information subversion in favor of Russia, received suspicion of state treason and participation in a criminal organization. His parliamentary colleague, now deprived of a mandate, was also notified of the suspicion.
In addition, a former prosecutor and two current employees of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (better known as GRU) were informed of suspicion.
By the decision of the Pechersk District Court in Kyiv, the current member of parliament was remanded in custody without the right to post bail. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
"We urge you to trust only official sources of information, carefully verify facts, and always contact state authorities," emphasized the State Bureau of Investigations.
