During a working visit to London, the United Kingdom, on September 18, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with Prime Ministerof Canada Justin Trudeau.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government laid great emphasis on the terrible crimes committed by russia on the territory of our country, in particular in Kharkiv region, where torture chambers and mass graves had been found after de-occupation.

"Ukraine insists on the establishment of a tribunal to hold the political leadership of the russian federation accountable for all crimes and atrocities committed on our land," said Denis Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine emphasized that it was vital to strengthen sanctions against russian energy carriers to a full embargo, as the aggressor continue to use this lever for blackmail and terror. According to him, one of the steps in this direction could be the establishment of a marginal price for russian gas.

"Another example of the use of energy resources as a tool of terror is the seizure of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. The only way to prevent an accident may be coordinated actions of security organizations. Therefore, we call for the creation of an international mission of the UN and the European Union, the activities of which will result into the complete demilitarization of the ZNPP and the adjacent territory," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Head of the Government of Ukraine also thanked Canada for its leadership in supporting our country as well as for providing military assistance. He emphasized that the increase and acceleration of arms deliveries would support the offensive of Ukrainian troops to liberate the occupied territories.

Denys Shmyhal and Justin Trudeau, among other things, touched on the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. The Head of the Ukrainian Government expressed gratitude to Canadian partners for the adoption of national legislation aimed to regulate the mechanism of confiscation of russian assets.

"The aggressor must pay for his war and destruction. Not only through reparations, but also through confiscated assets. This principle should form the basis of the future security system," noted the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
