Russian forces attacked Ukraine overnight using Shahed drones and S-300 missiles. Air defense forces destroyed all the attack drones.
This was reported by the Telegram channels of Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk and head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Filip Pronin.
"On the night of April 9, 2024, Russian occupiers attacked with 20 Shahed-131/136 attack drones from Cape Chauda (Crimea), Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and four guided S-300 surface-to-air missiles from the occupied Donetsk region," the commander reported.
As a result of the air battle, all 20 Shaheds were shot down in the Mykolaiv, Odessa, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Vinnytsia, and Lviv regions.
According to the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Filip Pronin, 2 drones were shot down in the Poltava region.
"Within the Poltava community, our mobile fire groups successfully engaged two drones. Fortunately, there were no casualties," Pronin reported.
The Air Force of southern Ukraine reported successful engagement with 9 drones:
1 shot down in the Odessa region; 2 in the Kherson region; 3 in the Mykolaiv region; 3 in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The defense forces' combat operation lasted for two hours, targeting critical infrastructure. As a result of the Russian attack, a power transmission line was damaged in the Odessa region.
"Due to the debris from the downed drone in the Odessa region, private properties were damaged, and a power transmission line was severed. Fortunately, there were no casualties," the Air Force reported.
