The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has provided the units of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense with another round of material and technical assistance to equip four mine clearance quality control teams. Drones and other equipment will be used by defense specialists to monitor the quality of demining in areas cleared of mines and other explosive remnants of war.

The assistance was provided as part of the project “Comprehensive Humanitarian Mine Action to Support Early Recovery in Ukraine 2023–2026.”

“Thanks to this support, we are able to enhance the technical capabilities of our specialists, respond promptly to challenges, and ensure safety in demined areas,” said Colonel Ruslan Berehulya, Head of the Secretariat of the National Mine Action Authority and Chief of the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety.

During the meeting, Colonel Ruslan Berehulya discussed further cooperation with DRC representatives. In particular, they addressed organizing training courses for Ministry of Defense specialists on demining quality control in accordance with international and national standards. The training program will include practical exercises using drone systems and artificial intelligence.

The parties also agreed to continue participating in joint projects aimed at developing the national mine action capacity.
