On the night of Monday, March 25, in the Rostov region of Russia, unmanned combat aerial vehicles attacked the Novocherkassk Thermal Power Plant.
As a result of the attack, a fire broke out at the transformer substation, leading to the temporary shutdown of two power units.
The fact of the fire was confirmed by the governor of the Russian region, Vasily Golubev.
At the same time, local Telegram channels, citing eyewitnesses, reported that the Novocherkassk Thermal Power Plant was attacked by combat drones.
Local residents are sharing corresponding videos on social media platforms.
"Tonight, there was a fire at the transformer substation of the Novocherkassk Thermal Power Plant, which was promptly extinguished by the station's personnel. There were no casualties. The causes of the fire are being investigated," Golubev reported.
At the same time, the Russian official did not mention anything about the drone attack.
However, it is worth noting that Russian officials are often reluctant to report losses and typically do not disclose the true reasons behind certain events at important facilities.
Before the fire, locals heard the sound of drones flying in the sky over the Rostov region. Then, powerful explosions were heard in the vicinity of the power plant, followed by the outbreak of the fire.
Due to the fire at the Novocherkassk Thermal Power Plant substation, the high-voltage lines of 330 kV - Tikhoretsk and Rostov were automatically disconnected.
