“For the Netherlands, this training rotation means the end of participation in Operation Interflex. The program itself will continue under British leadership in a new phase, in which the focus shifts from large-scale basic training to specialized courses… However, the Netherlands continues to contribute to the training of Ukrainian soldiers in other ways, including through the European training mission EUMAM,” the statement on the Dutch Ministry of Defence website said.
She noted that over the four years since Operation Interflex began, more than 63,000 Ukrainian service members have been trained, including around 11,000 instructors.
“The Ministry of Defence has been involved in this operation from the very beginning. Military personnel from the Royal Netherlands Army and the Marine Corps participated in different rotations. In recent months, the 13th Light Brigade ensured the Netherlands’ participation in the final rounds of basic training under this phase of Operation Interflex,” the minister added.
As reported, Operation Interflex is a training program for Ukrainian soldiers based on the standards of the British Armed Forces. It is organized by the United Kingdom together with countries of the Joint Expeditionary Force and other allies.
For reference, EUMAM Ukraine is the European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine, aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend Ukraine’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, and to deter and respond to possible future military offensives by Russia and other potential aggressors.
