On the night of April 5, military airfields in Russia were massively attacked in the Rostov, Saratov regions, and the Krasnodar Territory.

Radio Liberty reported this, monitoring the situation.

Russian air defense systems shot down 53 drones overnight and in the morning in five regions of the country - the Krasnodar Territory, Rostov, Saratov, Kursk, and Belgorod regions. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense in a Telegram channel.

In the Rostov region, where, according to the Ministry of Defense, 44 drones were shot down, a power substation in the Morozovsk district was damaged. Governor Vasily Golubev wrote about this. However, Golubev does not mention the military airfield near Morozovsk.

Earlier, local Telegram channels reported that the target of the drone attacks was an airfield in Morozovsk, where Su-34 fighters, actively operating along the front line, are based. Authorities have not officially confirmed this information. Eyewitnesses reported numerous drones and counted more than 60 explosions. Beware of the news, citing local residents, writes that they saw "more than 15 aerial targets."

According to Baza, around 40 drones were shot down overnight over the airfield. Subsequently, three more drones attacked the power substation, resulting in damage to an administrative building, two cars, and transformers.

On Friday morning, drones targeted the city of Engels in the Saratov region, where a military airfield is also located. As reported by the governor of the region, Roman Busargin, all drones were eliminated. There are no reports of casualties or infrastructure damage from falling debris. From his message, it is not possible to make a definitive conclusion whether one drone or more were destroyed.

Local public channels reported explosions in the vicinity of the airfield, which has been targeted by drones multiple times. Heavy bombers Tu-95 and Tu-22, used for strikes against Ukraine, are based there.

Residents of Yeisk in the Krasnodar region reported hearing not only loud explosions but also the sound of automatic gunfire in the vicinity of the local airfield.

The Ukrainian side has not yet commented on these attacks.

Morozovsk is a military airfield in the Rostov region, located about three kilometers southwest of the town of Morozovsk. The 559th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment of the 1st Guards Mixed Aviation Division of the Russian Air Force is based at the airfield.
