President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the diplomatic situation surrounding the end of the war in Ukraine, as well as the possible organization of a leaders’ summit.

The head of state reported this on Telegram.

“I spoke with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. We always have friendly and meaningful conversations, and we deeply appreciate the sincere and warm attitude of Turkey and the entire Turkish people toward our people... We discussed the current diplomatic situation and the opportunities it now opens. President Erdoğan clearly stated that any negotiations without Ukraine will not bring lasting peace. We equally understand all risks and threats. A simulated, not honest, peace will definitely not last long and will encourage Russia to seize even more territory,” he wrote.

Zelensky also noted that the Ukrainian side is ready for any format of meetings in order to stop the killings and end the war.

“I thanked for the support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for Turkey’s mediating role during meetings with the Russian side in Istanbul,” he added.

President Erdoğan confirmed his country’s readiness to organize a summit of the leaders of Ukraine, the United States, Russia, and Turkey.

The leaders also discussed high-level events that Ukraine is preparing for during the UN General Assembly.

“We are working together on Turkey’s participation,” he noted.
