The Finnish government will decide today, December 14, to close the open border points with Russia.

Minister of the Interior of Finland, Maria Ohisalo, stated that the government would announce restrictions on border crossings at 18:15, reported by Yle.

The government will discuss the border crossing restrictions at an extraordinary meeting of the State Council. About 50 asylum seekers, whose nationality is unknown, have already arrived at the Niirala border crossing.

At the Vaalimaa border crossing, 21 asylum seekers have arrived. Approximately an hour ago, the total number of those who crossed the border was about 1300 people.

784 people left the border to Russia, and 524 entered Finland from Russia.
